Again this is not a new feature but, in my experience, is one that is not commonly used. One of the options available on the Account Maintenance window (Cards » Financial » Account) is Allow Account Entry. Unchecked, account codes can only be defaulted in by the system but when checked this option allows users to select the account anywhere in the system. Codec Pack For Raw Image Files Now Available For Windows
Slightly off topic posting today, but I work with several camera aficionado’s so this news story came to my attention this morning. Microsoft have released a Microsoft Camera Codec Pack for Windows 7 and Windows Vista which allows direct handling of raw files within Windows. Previously this required third part programs from the camera makers as each of them has a slightly different, largely undocumented, raw format.
For those not in the know, raw is an image format of uncompressed, minimally processed, data from the image sensor of a digital camera (raw is popular with DSLR cameras). The file is of a higher quality with more image information and allows for finer control than other image formats such as JPEG.
See the Inside Windows Live blog for full details of the codec pack or go straight to the download.
Feature Explained: Remember User & Password
Microsoft Dynamics GP does not support Windows Authentication but in Microsoft Dynamics GP 2010 a new option has been added to allow the user’s username and password to be remembered for when they login. This isn’t as good as Windows Auth as the password does not have rules enforced by Active Directory but can make logging in easier for users. Feature Explained: Payables Select Checks Enhancements
In Microsoft Dynamics GP 2010, several enhancements have been made to the Select Cheques window in Payables Management to add flexibility and allow more control over the building of the payment batch; a feature which has proven popular with the clients who have seen it. How To Remove The CEIP Reminder
When you install Microsoft Dynamics GP it automatically creates a recurring reminder for the Microsoft Customer Experience Improvement Program. In most cases this reminder is not wanted but removing it through the system for every user can be a bit time consuming;
For each user, log into Microsoft Dynamics GP and open the Reminders window (Microsoft Dynamics GP menu » Reminders) and open the CEIP task. In the window click Name and select an option. Flag the task as Completed and move onto the next user and repeat.
However, help is at hand in with two short SQL scripts. Continue reading “How To Remove The CEIP Reminder”
Management Reporter Version Numbers & Release Dates
Les Wright on the Microsoft Dynamics Corporate Performance Management, Management Reporter & BI Blogger site has posted a list of the Management Reporter versions and their release dates.
Of most interest is the release of the latest service pack (which we posted details of here) and the upcoming Feature Pack 2 for Management Reporter 2 which, as Les says, is expected during December 2011.
I believe among other new features is the ability to both schedule and email reports and also a drill-down facility to the GP General Ledger.

Feature Explained: Combine Budgets
I like how Microsoft Dynamics GP handles budgets and the ease with which they can be exported to, amended and then imported from Excel. However, one of the issues constantly raised by customers in the past was that you could only have one budget and had to include all codes within it. This is problematical when you have several budget holders within your organisation who will have a budget figure to divide up between their account codes.
Well, in Microsoft Dynamics GP 2010, a new feature has been added; you now have the ability to combine several budgets into one. Continue reading “Feature Explained: Combine Budgets”
