I’ve been quite busy both in and out of work recently and have lagged in the writing of blog posts, so I thought I’d let you know of the three upcoming monthly webinars I’ll be delivering for ISC Software.

We run these webinars on a monthly basis, with occasional extra webinars added to the schedule so it is worth checking the Webinar Schedule page every so often.

With the Receivables Transaction Import definition created, we can now use it to import some transactions. I have the template populated with two lines, which are for separate invoices.

The Doc Type field should be set to one of the following numeric identifiers:

1. Sales / Invoices
2. Debit Memos
3. Finance Charges
4. Service / Repairs
5. Warranty
6. Credit Memo
7. Returns

Financial Elementz includes a Receivables Transaction import which can be used to load the following transaction types into Receivables Management:

1. Sales / Invoices
2. Debit Memos
3. Finance Charges
4. Service / Repairs
5. Warranty
6. Credit Memo
7. Returns

The import uses an Excel spreadsheet as the data source, which the user can select at runtime, but the format of the file needs to be defined in advance; the import supports the creation of multiple import definitions so that, if required, sales transactions can be imported electronically from multiple different systems and do so including different columns and in a different order.

To create the import definition, open the Receivables Transaction Import window (Sales area page » Transactions » Financial Elementz » Receivables Transaction Import), enter the new Definition ID and tab from the field; when prompted, click Yes to create the new definition:

With a Manual Payment Import Definition created, we can now use it to import data into Microsoft Dynamics GP.

The file can include multiple payments, one per row, for different payment types and creditors. The example I am using has a cheque/check payment to one creditor and a cash payment to a second. The Payment Type is one of the following numeric identifiers:

0. Cheques/Checks
1. Cash
2. Credit Card (Card name is a mandatory field for this payment type)
3. EFT

Save and close the prepared Excel spreadsheet:
