This post is part of the New Functionality In Microsoft Power Automate 2024 Wave 1 series in which I am taking a look at the new functionality introduced in Microsoft Power Automate 2024 Wave 1.
The 25th of the new functionality in the Desktop Flows section is Use the new desktop flow running timeout property.
This feature allows makers to set a maximum runtime for desktop flows. If this duration is exceeded, the flow will automatically time out and halt, ensuring that flows don’t run indefinitely or become unresponsive due to unforeseen conditions in the target application or potential infinite loops in the flow logic.
Enabled for: Admins, makers, marketers, or analysts, automatically

This setting is off by default but can be activated through a toggle in the Power Automate for desktop console. Once enabled, makers can define the maximum duration for the flow, using a format of hours, minutes, and seconds.
