I am now on holiday (ferry setting off) so there will be no posts for a couple of weeks.

azurecurve Twitter Archive Created
Apparently Twitter only allows you to download the last 3,200 posts you have made. While I am substantially short of this number at present, I thought it might be useful to keep an archive of these posts myself so I always had access to them.
The CMS I am most used to these days is WordPress and I recently came across a plugin and theme from Ozh which allows you to make an archive of your Twitter which looks like the new Twitter. This azurecurve Twitter Archive is now available; it has been themed to look very like my Twitter page but has all the functionality of WordPress.
Merry Christmas!
Meet an MVP at the IT in Housing Exhibition 2013, London
I am going to the IT in Housing Exhibition 2013 at the Olympia Centre in London on the 19th and 20th November; my employer Perfect Image will be there to show Microsoft Dynamics GP as an option for housing associations and others in the social housing sector.
We’ll be sharing a stand with MIS Active Management Systems who offer a suite of housing focussed applications called ActiveH.
This exhibition is free to attend for both conference delegates and for visitors involved in the provision of social housing.
The exhibition features around 80 exhibits from leading suppliers and is the UK’s most highly regarded and focused event for those involved in ICT in the housing sector.
If you’re attending, why not stop by and say hello.
“Standing on the shoulders of giants” or “A new MVP is awarded”
Many events happen to me around the last two weeks of September and first two weeks of October.
This year is no different. I moved house on the 19th September and today, 1st October I have received an email from the Microsoft Community Engagement team informing me that I have been awarded the 2013 Microsoft® MVP Award.
Woohoo! Go me 🙂
However, by no means does this award mean I can relax; in fact I have a bit of a backlog of posts to get through and a couple of other ideas I’m trying to develop which will hopefully help the community on top of my current activities. I also want to get back to contributing on the Community forum again which has dipped a little due to workload and moving house (lots of boxes to unpack and furniture to assemble/position). So a busy time ahead over the coming months.
Finally, there is no way that I would have won this award without the outstanding contributions made to the online Dynamics GP community by the MVPs and other contributors. So thanks to all who contribute back to the community.
If I have seen further it is by standing on the shoulders of giants.

Outlook.com: Send Without Attachments?
I’ve been a bit quiet on the posting front recently because my second book is in the later stages of the publishing process and I need to review and respond to feedback from the editors at Packt Publishing.
To do this we’ve been emailing drafts of the chapters to and fro. And (again) this morning a feature of Outlook.com saved me from looking slightly silly when I replied to an email intending to send back an updated draft, but clicked Send without actually attaching the file;
I was presented with the above message. Clicked Go back, added the file and sent the message.
I’ve talked to various people who dislike this type of message, but I really don’t see the problem with it. I’ve only ever been presented the message when I have meant to attach a file and forgotten; I’ve never received it for a false positive so I quite like it. I wish Outlook 2010 had it (or perhaps it does and I just don’t know where the setting is.
Another Posting Hiatus
Unfortunately (well, fortunately if truth be told), the time has come for another enforced posting hiatus for me. Following my illness and emergency surgery in October last year, I am going back into hospital for follow up surgery tomorrow and will not be working or blogging for a time after while I recover.
Knowing myself pretty well, I’m sure I’ll get bored fairly quick, but Mark Polino has the antidote to any boredom with the release of his new book, Building Dashboards with Microsoft Dynamics GP 2013 and Excel 2013;
Coming Soon: Microsoft Dynamics GP 2013 Cookbook
With an expected release date of June 2013, the Microsoft Dynamics GP 2013 Cookbook is to be released.
This is an update to the Microsoft Dynamics GP 2010 by Mark Polino, which was released three years ago. With the new version of Dynamics GP 2013 being released in December last year, it was time for a new version of the book to be written and with Mark was otherwise engaged writing the Building Dashboards with Microsoft Dynamics GP 2013 and Excel 2013 so Packt Publishing approached me and asked if I would write the update.
So, in June this year the Microsoft Dynamics GP 2013 Cookbook by Ian Grieve and Mark Polino will be released;
With this book you will:
- Understand the various tips and tricks to master Dynamics GP, and improve your system’s stability in order to enable you to get work done faster
- Discover how to solve real world problems in Microsoft Dynamics GP 2013 with easy-to-understand and practical recipes
- Access proven and effective Dynamics GP techniques from authors with vast and rich experience in Dynamics GP
You can pre-order the Microsoft Dynamics GP 2013 Cookbook direct from Packt Publishing.
