New GP Compatibility Page Available

Microsoft Dynamics GPI’ve added a GP Resources section to this site; as well as links to the GP Table Reference, I’ve created a Microsoft Dynamics GP Compatibility page which shows the compatibility with SQL Server, Windows Server and Windows from Dynamics GP 2010 through to 2018.

If you see any errors, or can contribute information on supported versions, prior to 2010, please contact me with the information.

WinthropDC Special Promotion for Pennies for Taylor

Winthrop DCMicrosoft Dynamics GP MVP Shawn Dorward’s son, Taylor, was involved in a drowning accident a few weeks ago. Thanks to Taylor’s friends and the emergency teams, Taylor survived but has suffered significant brain damage; he is now on the long road to recovery and making great progress.

A Go Fund Me has been running to assist in paying for Taylor’s medical expenses.

To assist further, MVP David Musgrave has decided to give 10% of all new sales of Winthrop Development Consultants products (GP Power Tools and Batch Posting Service Toolkit) sold until the end of September to Shawn.

Kevin Rasmussen from Ethotech told David that he will match the same offer for their products. David also has a challenge for other Dynamics GP ISVs: see David’s blog for details.

Please, if you can contribute something to help Taylor, even $5, do so and, if you’re an ISV, take a look at David’s blog.

Dark Mode for azurecurve Launched

azurecurveDark Modes for websites are becoming more common and I find myself using them more and more often. I’ve done some development work and a dark mode is now available for azurecurve|Ramblings of a Dynamics GP Consultant.

To enable, or disable dark mode, use the drop down select box in the Change Mode widget in the sidebar (ringed in red):

Top 15 Microsoft Dynamics GP Blogs by Feedspot

Microsoft Dynamics GPThere have been a number of Top x Microsoft Dynamics GP blogs over the last few years. The most recent list is from Feedspot and this site is included in 4th place:

Feedspot Top 15 Dynamics GP Blogs medal

Feedspot introduces the Top 15 Microsoft Dynamics GP Blogs, Websites & Newsletters To Follow in 2018 list saying:

The Best Microsoft Dynamics GP Blogs from thousands of Microsoft Dynamics GP blogs on the web using search and social metrics. Subscribe to these websites because they are actively working to educate, inspire, and empower their readers with frequent updates and high-quality information.

These blogs are ranked based on following criteria:

  • Google reputation and Google search ranking
  • Influence and popularity on Facebook, twitter and other social media sites
  • Quality and consistency of posts.
  • Feedspot’s editorial team and expert review

There aren’t as many of these lists as I thought there were; in fact since 2014, the Feedspot one is th third. They’ve been coming every two years:

  1. Top 25 Dynamics GP Sites
  2. 20 Best Dynamics GP Blogs of 2016
  3. Top 15 Microsoft Dynamics GP Blogs, Websites & Newsletters To Follow in 2018

As you can see from the list above, the lists have dropped from top 25 to top 15, although the first two lists were criticised for including sites which either no longer updated or were updated with majority of content on other ERP systems.

The Feedspot one also has two problems; firstly, it’s named Top 15, but actually only includes 14 sites: secondly, the Perfect Image site listed is pretty much just syndicated content from this site, so the Top 15 is really only a Top 13.

The blogs listed are very good ones, but there is one notable omission: Victoria Yudin|Ramblings and musings of a Dynamics GP MVP. Inclusion of Victoria’s site would put the list to a Top 15.

I’ve worked with Microsoft Dynamics GP for almost 15 years now and while new people have started blogging about Dynamics GP, my impression is that there are fewer people blogging about it now than there was. I’m not sure if this is actually true or if I’m looking back with rose tinted glasses; in the past I made much more use of the available blogs than I do now (I’ve picked up more experience and knowledge of the system in the last 15 years).

GP Table Reference Updated for GP 2018 plus First ISV Products Added

GP Table ReferenceI have now fully updated the azurecurve|GP Table Reference for Microsoft Dynamics GP 2018 RTM as well as adding the first few ISV products

A total of six new products have been added during the latest update.

Standard modules added are (I’m not entirely sure why these hadn’

  • Direct Debits & Refunds (8811)
  • Scheduled Installments (1150)
  • The added ISV products are:

    1. Advanced Bank Reconciliation (2440) from Nolan Business Solutions
    2. Extender (3107) from eOne Solutions
    3. MIS-AMS Extensions (3459) which is now maintained by Perfect Image, but not generally commercially available.
    4. SmartList Builder (3830) from eOne Solutions

I am going to be adding additional ISV products to the site as well, look for lighter tiles ; if you work for an ISV, or use ISV products, and want the tables added to the GP Table Reference, please get in touch with details of what you want adding.

The Mekorma products are currently on my list of the next ISV products to be added.

991 Tables Added to GP Table Reference

GP Table ReferenceEither Microsoft have added a hell of a lot of new tables to Microsoft Dynamics GP 2018 RTM or I had a lot more missing tables on the azurecurve|GP Table Reference than I thought I did (I knew the Email tables were missing).

I know I have added the tables for five missing products:

    1. Advanced Security
    2. Analysis Cubes for Excel
    3. Excel-Based Budgets
    4. Report Scheduler
    5. Technical Service Tools

However, overall there was 991 tables added to the site, suggesting a lot of missing tables have been added, as I know these five products do not have that many tables.

I am going to be adding ISV products to the site as well, look for lighter or darker blue tiles (I’ve not yet decided on the colour); if you work for an ISV, or use ISV products, and want the tables added to the GP Table Reference, please get in touch with details of what you want adding.
