Mark Polino’s Weekly MS Connect Suggestion – Copy and Paste from Excel to the GL Transaction Entry Window

Microsoft Dynamics GPContinuing Mark Polino’s weekly DynamicAccounting.net series of posts recommending an MS Connect suggestion.

This weeks is a vote on allowing a Journal to be composed in Microsoft Office Excel and then copied and pasted into the General Ledger Transaction Entry window. This functionality would be useful for those people who don’t have Integration Manager – Financials.

If you’d be interested in seeing this change made, please go to Connect and vote.

How To Recreate SQL Objects Using PSTL

Microsoft Dynamics GPAs well as rebuilding a corrupt GL00105, the Toolkit within the Professional Services Tools Library (PSTL) can be used to recreate SQL objects such as SQL Indexes or the Dex stored procedures.

Error Starting Microsoft Dynamics GP After Installing PSTL

Microsoft Dynamics GPI’m taking a slight detour away from posting the series of how to’s on the Professional Services Tools Library to highlight an installation error that I’ve recently seen when installing PSTL.

A client recently installed PSTL and reported receiving the below error message;

Microsoft Dynamics GP - A Get/Change Operation on Table 'gpAppEnabled' cannot find the table

I’d sent them the PSTL download along with the instructions on how to install it without realising that there was a missing part to me instructions (which has now been added).

When installing PSTL into a company for the first time, you must log into Microsoft Dynamics GP as the sa user as there are some tables which get created (covered in KB Article 861564 which is actually a retired article but does mention the issue and the resolution).

Mark Polino’s Weekly MS Connect Suggestion – Improve Intercompany

Microsoft Dynamics GPContinuing Mark Polino’s weekly DynamicAccounting.net series of posts recommending an MS Connect suggestion.

This weeks is a vote on improving intercompany transactions. While, as Mark points out, the suggestion is a little on the vague side, voting to imProve intercompany will focus Microsoft’s gaze upon the subject of intercompany support.

If you’d be interested in seeing this change made, please go to Connect and vote.

As an aside, I’m at square one house wise now but had my time taken up With a side project (details to be announced soon) but I now aim to get back posting with some regularity.

Mark Polino’s Weekly MS Connect Recommendation — Debits Before Credits!

Microsoft Dynamics GPMark Polino on DynamicAccounting.net recently started a series of weekly posts recommending an MS Connect suggestion.

This weeks is a vote on reordering the debit and credit columns in SmartLists so they match the ordering in the rest of the system.

If you’d be interested in seeing this change made, please go to Connect and vote.

Mark also follows up with a Microsoft Dynamics Community column discussing how ISVs can benefit from following the voting patterns on MS Connect.

How To Rebuild GL00105 Using PSTL

Microsoft Dynamics GPA while ago I posted a script that could be used to fix a corrupt Account Index Master (GL00105). However, the Toolkit within the Professional Services Tools Library (PSTL) can be used to do the same thing without resorting to a custom script.

Mark Polino’s Weekly MS Connect Recommendation – SmartList Left Pane Resizing

Microsoft Dynamics GPMark Polino on This weeks is a vote on allowing the left hand (treeview) pane of the SmartList to be resized.

Voting for this would be a better, long term fix to the problem of how GP itself resizes the pane and an alternative to customisations such as this one.

Management Reporter 2012 for Microsoft Dynamics ERP Rollup 1 Released

Microsoft Dynamics GPI’m slightly late in posting this one but I figure it might still be a useful post to make.

On 30th April 2012 Microsoft released Rollup 1 for Management Reporter 2012 for Microsoft Dynamics ERP which includes an updated Migration Wizard [PDF] which was missing from Management Reporter 2012 until now.

Rollup 1 can be downloaded here (PartnerSource or CustomerSource login required).

Mark Polino Steps Forward To Promote MS Connect

Microsoft Dynamics GPIt’s very likely that you’ve never heard of Microsoft Connect; Connect is used by the Dynamics teams to decide what to put in future releases and users have the opportunity to add suggestions and vote on existing items.

Mark has a post on DynamicAccounting.net where he proposes doing a weekly post to promote an existing suggestion for improvement of Microsoft Dynamics GP on Connect for people to vote for, or against, inclusion in a future version of Microsoft Dynamics GP. His posts on this subject will be a weekly feature where he highlights a different suggestion each week for the community to review and decide if it would be a worthwhile addition.

This weeks post relates to a change to allow Unit Accounts to be zeroed during the year end process in the GL. Please take the time to review this suggestion and vote for, or against, and help to improve and guide the future development Microsoft Dynamics GP.

Microsoft Connect has been around for a while but it woefully unused, I’m as guilty as anyone atnot using it much, but it is a way for both partners and customers to have a hand in guiding the development of Microsoft Dynamics GP.

Please join in and follow Mark’s posts on this subject, every Tuesday, on DynamicAccounting.net.

How To Copy Shortcuts Using PSTL
