This article is part of the Using Extended Texts In Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central series, but articles within it will also be part of the ongoing In Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central (Financial), how do I… and In Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, how do I… series which I am posting as I familiarise myself with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central.
Extended texts can be added to G/L Accounts for use on sales and purchase transactions. To add an Extended Text to a G/L account, open the account card and then click the Related » Account » Other » Extended Texts action:
The page displayed is the Extended Text List page as multiple extended texts can be added to a G/L account; to create a new one click the New action:
Enter a Language Code if one is being used, otherwise leave this field blank. Be aware if you leave it blank, an underscore (_) will show on the list page for the extended text, which isn’t terribly helpful for users to see the purpose of the Extended Text.
Add a Description so you can keep track of the intended purpose of the Extended Text.
Starting Date and Ending Date can be used to limit the time period for which the Extended Description should be used; perhaps an extra description required for winter or summer.
Enter the Text of the Extended Text; there is no limit to the number of lines which can be added to an Extended Text.
The bottom part of the screen has fasttabs for Sales and b]Purchases[/b] where you can limit the transaction types onto which the Extended Texts can be added; useful if you only need them to show for customers on sales documents and never to vendors.
Close the Extended Text page and you’ll see the new one added to the list on the Extended Texts List page.
