Working with Power Automate Solutions: Importing An Unmanaged Solution

Power AutomateThis article is part of the Working with Power Automate Solutions series and of the larger Working with Power Automate series I am writing on my experiences working with the Power Automate, which is part of the Power Platform from Microsoft. I also have a related series of articles on Power Automate with Microsoft Dynamics 365 BC.

If you want to import an unmanaged solution into an environment different to the one in which it was developed, you can do so from the Solutions page in Power Automate. Make sure you don’t have a solution selected and click the Import solution button near the top of the page:

Solutions page showing the import solutions button highlighted

In the Import a solution pane which opens, Browse for the exported unmanaged solution and then click the Next button at the bottom:

Import a solution pane for browsing to the exported file

As I am applying an update to an environment which already has the solution, there is a yellow bar at the top alerting me to this.

Review the details of the unmanaged solution to be imported; you can confirm it is unmanaged, the Current version installed and the Version contained in the update; click Import to import the solution:

Import a solution pane showing details of the selected solution to import

The import pane will disappear and a grey bar confirming import is in progress displayed at the top of the page:

Currently import solution message shown on the Solutions page

Once the solution has imported, the grey bar will disappear and be replaced by a yellow one confirming the import was successful:

Solution imported successfully message shown at the top of the Solutions page
