As I mentioned in this article on the different levels of inventory and warehouse management, warehouse shipments are used in basic warehousing for consolidated shipping of multiple orders.
However, goods can also be shipped on a sales order without requiring a warehouse shipment, by performing a shipment of goods on the order line (this also posts a pick, unless Require Pick is enabled).
In the next article of this series, I’ll show how to record a shipment at the order line level, before configuring and demonstrating the warehouse shipment in subsequent articles.
