azurecurve ClassicPress Plugins: Series Index

ClassicPress PluginsThis is part of the azurecurve ClassicPress Plugins which introduces the plugins I have available for ClassicPress.

The plugin I am going to cover in this post, is an existing one which has been brought up to coding standards; Series Index.

Functionality

The Series b=Index uses Series and Series Position custom fields to groups posts together into a series: the series-index shortcode can be used on a post to place the series index.

Defaults are configurable via the plugin Settings page, but parameters can be used to customise the output of each series index if required.

A series index post can be created using a Series Position of 0.

Additional shortcodes available are:

  • index-of-series – which allows an index of all series index posts to be displayed.
  • series-index-link – allows a link to be created back to the series index post.

This plugin integrates with the Toggle Show/Hide plugin.

Demo

This site makes extensive use of this plugin:

  • The series-index shortcode has been used to include the series index at the bottom of this post.
  • The index-of-series shortcode has been used on the Index of Series page.
  • The first paragraph of this post uses the series-index-link shortcode to create the link back to the parent post.

Download

The plugin can be downloaded via my Development site.

Creating An Outlook Item Shortcut

Microsoft OutlookEarlier this month I did a post on command line parameters to create an Outlook item (such as an email or appointment). In that post I mentioned it was easy to create a shortcut for them, but realised afterwards, that it might be beneficial to cover creating the shortcut.

To create a shortcut, right click on the Windows desktop, and click on New » Shortcut:

Windows right-clickcontext menu

Create SmartConnect Journal – Standard Map: Schedule Integration

eOne SolutionsThis post is part of a series on creating a Journal – Standard integration using SmartConnect from eOne Solutions; I recently posted a series on Implementing SmartConnect.

Before creating the schedule, select the Options tab and mark the Allow any user to run this map checkbox. This will allow the service account to run this map on the schedule once it is created.

Map Setup action pane with Schedule button

The journal standard integration is one which I would usually schedule to run periodically throughout the day. This is done as the final step in creating the integration from the Map Setup window by clicking Schedule on the toolbar.

The Schedule window will popup and allow you to configure the schedule as required:

Advanced Credentialed Professional Accreditation Retained

Association of Dynamics ProfessionalsThis post is part brag and part public service announcement. The Dynamics Credentialed Professional Exams used to be offered through the Association of Dynamics Professionals, but are now offered through GPUG; once you’ve passed an exam and received the credential, the credential lasts for two years.

If, like me, you passed the exams before 1/1/2017, you have an extended grace period until 31/3/2019 to resit and pass one of your exams. This is the public service element of the post.

Now for the brag; I resat one of the exams earlier this week and passed, so I can, for another two years, claim to be one of these:

Create SmartConnect Journal – Standard Map: Define Header Mapping

eOne SolutionsThis post is part of a series on creating a Journal – Standard integration using SmartConnect from eOne Solutions; I recently posted a series on Implementing SmartConnect.

In the last post, I stepped through mapping of the journal lines; in this post, I’ll cover mapping of the journal header.

From the Map Setup window, double-click on the Create journal line in the scrolling window.

As shown in the image, below, map the BatchID, TrxDate, Reference and JRNENTRY fields from the source to the destination. If JRNENTRY doesn’t show here then you have not marked the Use as Global Variable in the GP Rolling Column window).

You also need to change the Column Type on the Transaction type row to List Option and then set the Column Name to Regular; this will make sure the integrated journal is created as a standard journal.
